Ananda National College, located in the heart of Puttalam, is a prominent public national school in Sri Lanka. Established in 1967, the school traces its roots to the nationwide Buddhist education movement, which saw the establishment of several Ananda schools across the island to uphold cultural and educational values.


Currently, the school has an enrollment of over 2,000 students supported by an academic staff of more than 175. As a national school, it operates under the direct administration of the Ministry of Education, receiving government funding to ensure quality education and modern facilities.


The school offers education from Grade 6 to Grade 13 in Sinhala and English mediums. For the G.C.E. Advanced Level Examinations, students can choose from the nationally available streams: Physical Science, Biological Science, Commerce, Arts, and Technology. Ananda National College is well-equipped with modern classrooms, science and computer laboratories, libraries, and sports facilities.


In addition to academics, the school fosters holistic development through a wide range of sports and more than 35 clubs, societies, and associations, encouraging students to excel in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
